The Space Between Who You Were and Who You’re Becoming

Nov 4, 2025 | News

There’s a point on the awakening path that can feel hard to name — the space after awareness has arrived but before embodiment has anchored.

It’s the phase where you’ve realised things about yourself and your life, and nothing feels quite the same anymore.

It’s disorienting.

You’ve outgrown old versions of yourself and your life — the way you used to think, react, or connect — but the new you hasn’t landed. You still probably don’t know who that is. It’s like standing in a hallway between two doors: one has closed, and the next hasn’t opened yet.

This space can feel uncomfortable, even lonely. Your old goals don’t make sense, your old ways of coping don’t work, and the things that once lit you up feel strangely empty.

It’s tempting to rush through it or try and turn back — to grab at certainty or force the next chapter just to feel like you’ve “arrived.”

But this in-between is sacred.

It’s the space between awareness and embodiment — it’s the transitional life stretch of becoming, where everything inside you is reordering itself.

You’ve seen some truth that can’t be unseen, but your body, thoughts, heart and identity haven’t yet stabilised around it.

You have to go through the process of pulling it all apart.

Your mind reaches for the old thoughts, but they don’t fit anymore. The heart is still caught up in emotions from pain and even triggers in the past but you have some realisations around it now.

The soul is leading, but the human part needs to figure it all out.

It’s the space where you start practising new ways of thinking and being, even when they don’t feel natural yet. You know you don’t need to people-please — but saying no still makes your chest tighten and gives you anxiety.

You see your survival patterns — but safety still feels foreign.

You understand that you deserve love — but you know it’s still hard for you to receive .

This is the awkward, beautiful, messy middle where the soul is stretching you wider.

All I can say is if you find yourself here it’s important to take one day at a time; and understand you are in a process, and things won’t feel normal for a while.

Trust what and who doesn’t feel right; trust what’s dissolving is simply making space for what’s truer to come.

If you feel lost, tired, or unsure of who you are right now, it’s ok. The in between in the Awakening process isn’t all rainbows and unicorns – it’s often messy, snotty, confusing and can be painful because you know you can’t go back to who you were and what was …. but you don’t yet know who the new you is and how your new life looks.

Just allow yourself to stand still when you need to; life is a journey. I believe it is an opportunity to awaken through the experiences and relationships we have – if you chose to- be kind to yourself it’s ok to feel vulnerable in this space!
